I have not read the original version, so I cannot compare. I liked this one alot, the classical family-abducted-by-powerful-vilains theme was well rendered, and the background story very well exposed. I was a bit disappointed at the end, however, with what felt like some inconsistencies, or maybe dissolution of purpose. For example, Rachel was subjected to a specific treatment (body mod, rash), but we could not understand what the Chameleon had in mind; especially since after her rash was exposed (excellent idea that is quite rarely seen in this library, by the way), the specific treatment was mostly stopped with no further reason. Same with Lorna: once Lenny was back, she was treated much better. At least this could have created some tension in the Chameleon, but alas no. While I don't mind a somewhat happy ending, I would have enjoyed one with a bit more physical or behavioral consequences. Oh, and I loathed the part about Lonely; I failed to see the relevance to the story. As a conclusion, let me repeat that this is an excellent story, thank you a lot for creating and writing it. (9/10)

Very much enjoyed this updated version. Big improvement on the original in my humle opinion. Particularly enjoyed the character arc for Lorna, and thought the scenes intorducing the Stockholm Syndrome theme could have been further expanded on. Fantastic to see VG continning to post here, please keep it up. (10/10)

Thank God it only took 3 hours to read. Another hour and I would have had to call my doctor. (10/10)
