    | | A fitting end to a brilliant writing career. If only all of us could write like Parker (10/10)

    | | Truly a great writer, Parker knew (there have been no new stories for some years now) how to weave a story in and out until you could hardly stand it! If you have not read any Parker stories look around until you have found (at last count) the 32 stories (one is group of very short stories). (10/10)

    | | Well, I HAVE read all the Parker stories, and, in a way, that's sad, because I'd love to have
some -- even one -- that I could look forward
to reading for the first time. Now I can only
enjoy re-reading them all for the umpteenth
time. Parker is the master, and much of what
I know about writing in this genre I have
learned from reading his stories. (10/10)

    | | I give this a 12 for originality. A tour de force. One interesting idea follows another. My only complaint is that I wish I had read more of the author's earlier stories -- the reason why will become apparent. The story suggests that the author may have had health problems in real life -- in fact he announces that it is his last story. If you are still with us Mr Parker, I tip my hat to a fine writer. (10/10)

(Edit) (Sep 4, 2002)Thanks for the comments. There are no real life health problems. It just seemed like a fun way to "kill" off the author and finish up the Parker stories. And this was the last "parker" story.
I agree that this one would have been more fun if you were familiar with the earlier works. Still, that's a lot of reading.

    | | What a way to go. A fitting farewell from the master of the unhappy ending. If Parker has indeed stopped writing, the field is diminished by his absence. (10/10)
