While "Karen" bears a lot of promise, it doesn't deliver. Excalibur has a habit of posting short shorts, which for some reason feel like they were preparations for something more elaborate.
As such, most of 'em come across as rushed or missing parts. Or missing depth.
While not a 'bed' read, "Karen" falls in all of the above mentioned categories, leaving the reader with a feeling he's missed something.
Don't get me wrong. "Karen" is well written. But it feels like half a book worth of material was left out.

A great short story. Kind of in the fashion of the SAW movies. There were some jarring typos that distracted from the story. With a good editor looking this over before it was published it would have gotten an easy 10. (9/10)
