The Shock of the View Author: Freddie Clegg
(Added on Feb 1, 2007) (This month 21400 readers) (Total 31443 readers)
After Pieter Breughel\'s adventures in \"Art for Art\'s Sake\" he is asked to investigate when artist\'s models go missing. It\'s another romp through the world of art with a BDSM background, though if you are seeking a lot of heavy stuff and grinding sex should look elsewhere - this is pretty light and closer to a mainstream detective tale.

I've added your stories to my bookmarks, to have a go at the lot at a more convenient time, but I picked this one out because for some weird reason it was stil showing a virgin review slate.
Secondly, since I come from the same country as both the Breughels, I couldn't pass on this tale.
I cannot say anything else than that the story was extremely well painted (pun intended), especially with all the hints and references to existing works, both in the text and through the added links.
Adding that you, Mr. Clegg, have a talent and should go on to write more mainstream novels because you are destined for 'greater things', could sound a tad arrogant, because, in the end, who am I to say.
I'm not a self-proclaimed connoisseur, not even a critic. But, and I've said this before, I've read enough books to fill a decent-sized library, going from Remarque over Tolstoļ, to Sartre and Marquez, Ludlum, Jack Vance, Clarke, Heinlein, and so on and so forth.
So, forgive me when I say that I can spot a good writer when I see one and that I'm pretty much able to sort the 'good' stories from the 'bad'. So far, I haven't come across anything 'bad' from you, Freddie, but then, I have read but a couple of your stories.
But you're good. Extremely so. That is why you have my sincere thanks for posting here.
I humbly salute you.

Wow! Thanks for the review and the kind words.
I suppose this hadn't attracted reviews before because the basic premise is a bit odd and unless you've been through History of Art 101 a lot of the jokes don't make sense. I was really attracted by the idea of all these artists living at the same time though.
I've got another Pieter Breughel story half started - maybe I'll finish it sometime.
I guess I've thought about mainstream but the inspiration hasn't struck. Yet!
Thanks again and I hope you enjoy my other stuff.
