Hmmm, this one fantasy spins off sidewise rather uncontrollably. Or it's just that I imagined the plot would be going in a different dirrection. Whatever, the language is pretty solid, the pacing is (for the most part) good and the topic itself is likeable enough for the lighthearted approach the author adopted. So, it's fun. What I thought was detracting from the story is that the language is way better than the plot execution. Everything happens too fast, and this is where the fast pace of the story works against it. The characters are not as much developed as they are forced onto the reader. I feel this would have been better at twice or three times more words and some deeper exploration of motivation/ philosophy of the character. The final fifth in particular feels rushed, reading more like a synopsis of a story than a story itself. Still, an enjoyable read if this is your particular fetish. (6/10)
