Torture has seldom come across so sweet, as through the descriptions in "The Agony Of Failure". All hail, Captain. JJ (10/10)

The master of torture stories strikes again. And again, and again! For sheer, hardcore, grueling torture sessions, Cortez is one of the best, and this is another of his very best. (10/10)

Cortez has excelled again. My only quibble is that it does not seem as intimate as his other stories, where you really get a sense of the suffering; by far my favourite author on this site. (9/10)

Cortez does it again. Creative ideas for pain. Interesting devices. While not a fresh idea, it is well crafted.... and stimulating. (10/10)

Words such as refined, tasteful, elegant, and inventive are usually not associated with most of the work posted here. This story is the exception. The author has taken a simple plot and setting, peopled it with characters that we all know and even may love, and then turned it into a silken purse. The use of simple, declarative sentences, free from the conceits that usually identify a writer in over his or her head mark this as a superior piece of writing. The sophisticatd prose packs a wealth of description into a very compact space. The vocabulary is rich, but not florid. The heat this little tale generates is substantial yet not over the top. There is very little that this reviewer can say that would detract from what it is, a solid, professional and imaginative expression of the author's talent. This reviewer is most impressed. (10/10)

It has been three months since cortez has given us one of his masterpieces. I keep looking for something to quibble over but why am I bothering. A ten, why not. cortez is one of the master's of the art and this is one of his better masterpieces or eros as torture. Since I cannot suggest any way to make this better, I might as well give it a ten. (10/10)
