A Roman Entertainment in the Colosseum Author: dave johns
(Added on Jan 18, 2004) (This month 29571 readers) (Total 66094 readers)
The story is about one of the most popular and exotic spectacles ever seen in ancient Roman colosseum. It's fiction, but carefully based on the facts of what went on in the decadent Roman arena.

Excellent setting and history with good action marred by choppy story flow, weak characters, and telling that gives away the story at the beginning. Plus grammar issues. Do it again and double my score. (5/10)

Anatomy, shanatomy. Dolcett is still very popular and I don\'t think the anatomical veracity is significantly worse than in his work.
I\'d give it a seven, but Ive added 1.5 points since I think it is a very good start for the author and promises great work in the future. (8/10)

The Pasiphae myth is authentic. In Greek legend, Pasiphae was the wife of the Cretan King Minos, the builder of the labyrinth, and the mother of Ariadne (who later helped Theseus) and Phaedra. After incurring the wrath of Poseidon, the sea God imbued the unfortunate matron with a compulsion to mate with a bull and, aided by the inventive Daedalus, she found a way to safely do so. The product of that unlikely liaison was the famous Minotaur.
Whether that story is as far-fetched as this one is a moooooooooot point.
But not to worry -- a myth is as good as a mile. (4/10)

Well, the main problem for me was the rather obvious lack of anatomy knowledge on the part of the author. (5/10)

This "Entertainment" illustrates the old divide and conquer theme with an new perspective. For those so inclined, this story makes good reading and is, as the writer prefaces, based on early sands and toga life in the Roman arenae. (7/10)

Calling this 'carefully based on the facts' is a joke. It's rubbish. (2/10)
