Very well executed story. No flaws whatsoever, thanks to the flowing writing style and descriptive skill of the author. Reading "The Witch", was almost like reading a comic-book, as I constantly "saw" what was going-on... Excellent! JJ (10/10)

Absolutely brilliant, I loved every scintillating word of this story. It will stimulate my fantasies for years to come, as will all your works. You have an absolute skill in writing torture stories. Extremely well done. Brian (9/10)

Hmmm ... didn't realise this story was posted here, or else I would have reviewed it long ago. What can I say - this is truly one of the greatest sadistic stories ever written, and has given me countless hours of enjoyment. As great as all of Kirsten's writing is, this is perhaps the ultimate expression of a particular way of creating fear, pain and lust with simple and direct words. Still takes my breath away after so long. (10/10)

Very well done. Although the characters aren't entirely fleshed out, they are definitely interesting to see interact. Good job :) (9/10)

Normally, this is exactly my taste Kirsten and I hesitate to review at a lesser rating than my personal favorite author Faibhar. You did an excellent job in most area except perspiration seemed to be the main description applied to your protagonist as she suffered. Additionally, having studied the results of individuals being racked, the number of turns applied would have caused far greater damage than described. A couple of nits I know--it was a good job. Very good tale. My only disappointment was that the original accuser didn't get what she deserved. (9/10)

One-third of the way through is enough to convince me that this is one of the best "Torments of the Inquisition" stories ever written. The author uses lex's favorite tool - simple declarative sentances - to weave excellent word tapestries. The story is marred only a software glich that introduces spaces within words at random and the occasional "Curse of Spelchek" substitution. Bravo - looking forward to your next story. How about a Victorian or Georgian setting wherein a pair of young innocent sisters are sent to the isolated country estate of their cruel aunt? (9/10)

This one is over the top with a vengeance. There are very few Inquisition stories worth mentioning that match up to this one when it comes to describing some of the crueler aspects of this terrible period. The author is wise enough to use more than one victim, in a sense spreading the pain and somewhat reducing the disbelief that may be generated in the minds of many readers. The ending is kind of deus ex machina, but so what. This one generates enormous heat, my number two criterion after being able to write simple declarative sentences. On balance this is an impressive piece of work that appears to be well researched, something usually reserved for those working in the historical genre. It is too bad that some kind of software glitch created some havoc with the text in places. I hope it can be remedied. (9/10)
