This is the story of Taleena, a proud and passionate young woman of the Roman provinces, who is sold into slavery and finds herself chained to an oar of a galley as a punishment for offending her owner. After surviving that degrading ordeal, the beautiful blonde becomes both spectacle and swordswoman at the gladiator school of Flavius Autronius, where she is trained by her new masters to fight for her life and liberty in the arenas of Rome.

I enjoyed your story very much and cannot wait for the sequel. Very well written I hope you are working on it. Keep up the good work. (10/10)

I appreciated very much your story, especially since you use a lot of details of this period without never annoying the reader. These heavy situations are described without vulgar terms. Already your application to the story desserves a high rate.
I'm glad seeing you back with this extremely well written story. You waste no time for the reader's pleasure with detailed descriptions building this heavy atmosphere.
Your story becomes better and even better. I'm happy to see that the author takes the time necessary to develop his story. Already waiting for the next part(s)!

Thank you for posting your review. While any kind of feedback is appreciated, it's a pleasure if it's as favourable as yours - and if a reader takes the time to state it 'in public' at the library.

Thanks for updating your review. But although I'm glad to count some loyal readers like you, I am a little disappointed by the amount of feedback. One reason for the infrequent updates is the time it takes me (and my editor) to make the story "extremely well written" as you call it, but I keep asking myself whether this is worth the effort. If you think it is, come up with a ten for crying out loud;-)

I thought this was excellent. The setting is atmospheric, evocative, and credible - never an easy thing to do with a historical setting. Believable characters with realistic psychology. If I were to have a criticism, it would be that you sometimes tend to overuse nationality in place of names (e.g "the Blone Avernian"). This works with the minor characters because they're slaves, but I found that it jarred a bit with the more important characters. But this is a really *tiny* point, and the only constructive criticism I can think of! I'm sorry this hasn't had more reviews, because it deserves them..... (10/10)

Thanks for the praise. Somehow your review must have slipped past me, since it came at a time when the story wasn't updated. I can see your point with the use of nationalities, I just try to vary the names and attributes a little. However, I hope you enjoy the new update.

This is by far the best story i'e seen on the site for a long long time...when are we going to read more of Taleena's adventure. I couldn't wait..i'm sure many of us feel the same. (10/10)

Thank you for your nice words. Somehow your review must have slipped past me, since it came at a time when the story wasn't updated. If there are many readers like you who enjoy the story (which I believe), most of them belong to the more silent type of connaisseurs;-)

A truly wonderful effort, marred only by the time it took to get these new chapters! Your writing is excellent, characters defined, story clear and gripping. Anxiously awaiting a continuance! (10/10)

Thank you. What a pleasant review, marred only by the time it took to appear on screen;-) Seriously, I wish there would be more readers like you who take the time to vent their feelings about the story, and the feedback wouldn't even have to be as flattering as yours all the time -- indifference is always the worst kind of feedback. So thanks again for your encouraging words, they'll help to keep me going.

Polbios obviously put much work into his latest two chapters, and for that we are rewarded. If this epic were to ever reach the silver screen, (and it should), think Uma, J-Lo and Salma for possibles in a partial cast list. (9/10)

Thanks for the praise. I'm familiar with your historically grounded work, so I assume that we share a common interest in Roman history, albeit not in all 'tastes' in regard to the degree of violence. But as I stated in my reply to the first review, the violence will increase once the introduction is completed, and I hope this will add to your satisfaction;-) Stay tuned.

Thank you for updating your review(s). After the encouraging feedback on the first chapters, it's good to know that the sequels don't fall short of the reader's expectations. And I'm very pleased by your comments on the historical research, not only because I think it deserves to be acknowledged, but especially because I know that you are a real expert in this field. I'm glad to count you as a loyal reader!

Thank you, my friend, for both updating and upgrading your review. As I said before, I'm glad to count you as a loyal reader, and even more so I appreciate your regular reviews. As a fellow author, you know how anxious we all are to know what the reader thinks of one's work, and getting to know your opinion makes more than up for the general lack of feedback.
As to your suggested screen adaptation (of which I dream, too;-), Ms Hayek would certainly make an excellent Byrria, but who could star as our blonde Avernian? A blonde Ms Thurman? Anyway, nothing is more exciting than your own imagination… Again, thank you for your encouraging words. Polybios

It has been quite a long time since the last update, but now that the story continues I feel compelled to make up for not having posted a review so far. I\'m glad to see that Polybios has not stopped posting his work! I love stories set in Roman times, and recently I got afraid that I would have to do without MORITURI. This story has everything which makes a historical novel worth reading, but in addition to the authentic setting, vivid characters and compelling plotline, it features these special treats which the erotically challenged reader has to make up himself when he reads one of those mainstream novels. Thumbs up for this masterpiece, and please keep up the good work! (10/10)

Wow, thank you for the first 10, which of the three great old men you might be! I'm very pleased that you compare MORITURI to 'normal' historical novels, in which I, too, mostly miss the erotic quality. Actually, the main reason for me to write a larger-scaled, historically grounded story was to have enough of a pretext to describe my favourite, 'erotically challenged' (like that one;-) fantasies in an 'authentic' context. And there are enough of those 'special treats' to come, so stay tuned! Your flattering review did certainly a lot to keep me going.

Very well written and captivating story. Harsh conditions of slaves'life well detailed and rendered. No tasteless or gross language used, too often an apparent must in bdsm texts. Waiting impatiently for future installments. (9/10)

Thank you for the kind words - and for taking the time to post a review! Since you liked the first, introducing chapters, I'll wager that you won't be disappointed by the future installments...

Reviewer: titsman (Edit) Rating: Oct 26, 2003
I have given 9 only because we are waiting for the next chapters. No doubt you will reach 10 when you show us Taleena proudly suffering for Falvius pleasure (9/10)

Thank you for this first review. I'll take you at your word with the 10 - be assured that there's enough suffering to come once the stage is set and the characters are introduced...
