I can understand the criticism about the characters not seeming to have previous lives, but Cortez stories always have enough body to do without too much background about the folk populating the tale. Just like this one. Most excellent! JJ (10/10)

I have loved this story and the follow-ups to it for quite a while now. I originally found them out on the net. It was good to see them so well organized here at BDSM Library. I never took the time to tell you how much I enjoyed them and how the quality and heat of your stories both excited and influenced me. I recently posted a story here that some say is very much in your style. Although it has similarities I invite you to read it and let me know your own thoughts. My story is named "camp/site." I hope you like it! (10/10)

A great opening for the rest of the series. Well written, great dialogue, excellent pace and imagination as the series develops. More! More! (10/10)

- Thanks, now I've discovered how the system works I'm trying to reply to all reviewers. Although I will return to Colonel Marcos himself in the future I'm working on a number of different stories at the moment...as well as catching up on some of those long promised 'to be continued' ones.

Actually 9.5. Cortez is certainly one of the best writers of extreme BDSM stories that we have. The settings are wonderfully atmospheric, and the dialogue, while usually sparing, is first-rate.
The one slight objective criticism I have of the author is that he (?) devotes relatively little time to characterization -- his stories, and the lives of his characters, often tend to begin and end in a dungeon. But perhaps I'm expecting too much from a short story. A short BDSM story, at that. Most of his readers are probably grateful for the intensity of his focus, his laser-like concentration on what he does best.
The following is an expression of my own personal taste, and is not to be taken as a criticism of Cortez' stories per se, but some may find it interesting. And of course all of it refers only to sexual fantasy, not to real life.
Typically I am not too fond of torture chamber/interrogation scene stories. Or should I say stories that begin in a torture chamber. (Although some of my own do!) The villains, usually, are "professionals" who harbor no particular personal animus toward their victims. And it is that personal resentment, that personal thirst for revenge, that desire to make a particular victim suffer(as opposed to all members of a left-wing faction, say, or a resistance movement, or suspected witches, or prisoners-of-war), often before exploiting her sexually, that infuses the stories that I find most exciting. My own stories, unlike most in our genre, are predominantly male point-of-view, in an attempt to heighten that sense of sexual dominance of master(s) over victim. Without that personal angle, IMO, interrogation scene stories can often tilt toward the clinical side, with great (and often skillful) efforts made toward describing the victim's suffering, but relatively little attention given to the sexual pleasure the dominant takes in the victim's distress. It's a small thing -- hmm, let me rephrase that -- but that slight difference in point-of-view, for me, has a great deal to do with how much 'heat' a story gives off.
En fin, a very fine story. (9/10)
