Mixed Feelings. . The Punishment Dress is a story with an interesting set up and developing plot that unfortunately doesn't really go anywhere. We are introduced to the improbable father daughter pair of Claire and "Dad" who has no name other than "Dad" and are privileged to witness his sudden desire to humiliate and torture the girl in a somewhat sexual, yet still not SEXUAL manner. The primary plot device is the DRESS, which is a latex costume that is well described and basically makes 16 year old Claire look something like a tart. Dad then puts Claire through a series of physically difficult tasks that seem to serve little purpose besides making the young girl uncomfortable. . Even more at odds is the author's characterization of Claire. In the story, she is described as something of a brat who even mouths off to her father. And yet, almost from the first moment, this behavior is not evident. Claire is not just submissive to a fault, but doesn't even object to being stood out in the hot sunshine and having her father's underwear hung on her arms. She doesn't move. She doesn't bitch. She just stands there and takes it. The author's explanation is she doesn't want to make Daddy mad and get more punishment, but nothing was established to make us understand her fear. Is Dad into spanking the hell out of her? And if so, why is she NORMALLY impertinent? It just doesn't make a whole lot of sense. . From a grammatical perspective, this story is relatively well written. There weren't any major errors that tripped me up and there was a decent combination of simple and complex sentences to add depth and complexity to the work. . The author also clearly understands how plot moves, despite not really having one in this story. The author balances dialog, action, and description rather well, and while his descriptions are spartan, they are well placed. It's easy to make a mental picture and the action merely gives the mind something to fill in the blanks with. . I think the primary issue for this story is that there needs to be some developing plot and for the basic plot holes to be filled. Explain why Claire is afraid of the "new" dad. Or why she is agreeing to go along with all this. Then chapter two needs to be added, because those of us reading this for something more than sweaty latex fun want to actually see Claire GET spanked... and possibly worse? . In summary, there is some good stuff here. A little tweak here and there, and a little more thought into the plot arc, could make this story something spectacular. .
